95-Year-Old Japanese Heart Doctor Shares His 8 Essentials for a Long and Joyful Life

During a summer trip to Osaka, Japan, we spent time with a 95-year-old grandfather, a retired heart doctor. His way of living is creative and focused on his community.

He’s a role model for aging with joy and vitality.

He shared his eight key habits for a fulfilling and long life:

Morning Walks:

The grandparents wake up early, going for their walk at 5 a.m.

They walk for 30 to 60 minutes, reaching at least 7,000 steps.

Their walking paths change, from hilly trails near Minoh Falls to areas around Ikeda, starting their day actively.

Purposeful Exercise:

Following their walk, he does a special exercise routine.

This includes stretching, muscle training, and balance exercises, suited to his abilities each day, making sure he stays active but not overly tired.

Social Media Connection:

After his workout, he spends time on Facebook and Instagram connecting with family and friends.

He understands that being alone can make older people feel lonely, so he uses these platforms to maintain connections with his worldwide circle, including grandkids in the U.S.
